22841 CONTEMPORARY LARGE BORE .64CAL LEFT HAND HAWKEN RIFLE BY H. RUDKIN. ($1500)

CONTEMPORARY LARGE BORE LEFT HAND HAWKEN RIFLE BY H. RUDKIN. .64 caliber rifled 35” barrel has a 1:70 rate of twist so obviously for patched round ball. Heavy octagonal uniform barrel with plum brown finish. Nickel silver front blade sight and buckhorn rear dovetail. Pewter forend cap. Original ramrod with dark ebony like finish and steel tips. Case colored engraved lock plate signed with maker’s name stamped in middle. Same name stamped under barrel. Henry Rudkin was one of the heirs to the Pepperidge Farm family. Prolific collector and amateur gunsmith. Superb workmanship and near mint with mint bore. Adjustable set triggers(case colored) and brass engraved patch box with bison head. Silver oval cheek rest inlay(3"x2") and barrel wedge escutcheons. Circa 1980. Virtually unused and uncarried condition save a few storage checks. Mint standard #11 nipple. Weighs 10lbs.
