25852 J. MATTHEWMAN, NEW HAVEN, CT. 5 ½” PLAIN COPPER POWDER FLASK CIRCA 1850-60. ($125)

J. MATTHEWMAN, NEW HAVEN, CT. 5 ½” PLAIN COPPER POWDER FLASK CIRCA 1850-60. 6 ¾” o/a adjustable charger top with three settings for use with a small to medium bore rifle or pistol (.36-.50). Considered one of the early makers in America and along with Batty the most desirable. Fine condition with charger in working order and good seam. Charger marked on top “J. MATTHEWMAN” for John Matthewman of New Haven, Connecticut who is also known to have made flasks early on for Colt. Very scarce when marked with this maker’s name.
