J.H. HALE , BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT PERCUSSION UNDERHAMMER POCKET PISTOL CA. 1840. Half round 3” deeply rifled .31 caliber barrel. Top strap of frame panel signed “J. H. HALE/WARRENTED/CAST STEEL”. Distinctive bulbous maple grip with brass mounts characteristic of this maker. Light engraving on the top strap. Very good overall and 100% original. Nice brown patina and the original finish on the grip. Working order and good rifling. Scarce New England maker of these handsome little pistols.
