Item Photo Description
27905 EARLY COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER BLACK POWDER .44-40 CAL. 7 ½” REVOLVER SHIPPED AUG. 7, 1879. ($3400)

EARLY COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER BLACK POWDER .44-40 CAL. 7 ½” REVOLVER SHIPPED AUG. 7, 1879. Factory records state it was shipped in it’s present configuration to H. & D. Folsom in New York City as a 7 ½” nickel gun with grips not mentioned. Grips are very old pearls probably put on by Folsom who were well known Colt Dealers. All original and matching. Trigger and hammer are later original Colt replacements circa 1930’s. Very good overall with grey patina and traces of original nickel. Excellent markings including the correct “44CF” stamp on the left front trigger guard flat and the tiny “44” on the underside of the barrel. Grips in good condition showing nice ageing with a few minor checks and chips. Very colorful and only the second year for the .44-40 cartridge . Working order and very good bore. Factory letter.
